Sunbright removes black streaks and algae from roofs across Fort Worth with a soft wash, never a pressure washer. Most roofs run $450 to $750, priced from photos, usually within the hour.

The streaks are algae feeding on the shingles. A soft wash kills it, so the roof stays clean for two to three years.

We soft-wash asphalt shingle, tile and metal roofs on homes up to three stories. We do not repair roofs, replace shingles or clean commercial flat roofs.

Why never pressure on a roof

Pressure strips the granules that protect shingles and can void the manufacturer's warranty. A soft wash only applies a solution and rinses gently.

  • Algae and black streaks. Killed at the root, so they don't come back next summer.
  • Moss and lichen. Treated and left to release over a couple of weeks.
  • Gutters rinsed. Outside faces rinsed while we're up there.

Roof Soft Wash questions we get asked

What are the black streaks on my roof?

An algae called Gloeocapsa magma that feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles. It spreads across the roof over a few years. A soft wash kills it rather than just rinsing the surface.

Will roof cleaning damage my shingles?

A soft wash won't. Pressure washing can, by stripping granules. We only apply a cleaning solution at low pressure and rinse gently.
